Privacy Policy
Effective 13 July 2026 · Applies to the Fortn app (Android app com.fortnfinance.app, and the web app at app.fortnfinance.com) and this website.
- No bank connection. Fortn never asks for, or has access to, your bank login or your bank transactions. Everything in the app is entered by you.
- No ads, no trackers, no data sale. The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.
- Offline mode keeps everything on your device. If you use Fortn without an account, your data never leaves your phone.
- You can delete everything, in-app. Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account and all of your data from our servers.
Who we are
Fortn ("Fortn Finance", "we", "us") is a budgeting app made in Australia. For anything in this policy, contact us at hello@fortnfinance.com.
What we collect
If you create an account:
- Email address and password. Used only to sign you in and sync your data between devices. Your password is stored as a salted hash by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text.
- The budget data you type in. Incomes, budget boxes and groups, debts, the events you save toward, and your pay run history. This is data you choose to enter; Fortn does not pull it from anywhere.
If you ask for a coaching chat: the email address you type on that screen, plus anything you write in the optional line, so we can reply to you. That address is not added to any mailing list and is never sold or shared; ask us and we delete it.
If you use offline mode (no account): all of the above stays in your device's local storage only. Nothing is sent to our servers, and we hold nothing about you.
What we never collect: bank or financial-institution credentials, bank feeds or transactions, your contacts, your location, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no third-party analytics or tracking code.
Where your data lives
Account data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, and the app and website are served by Vercel, our hosting provider. These providers process data only as needed to run the service. All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and your data is only readable by your own signed-in account. As with virtually every website, our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations.
How we use your data
For one thing: running Fortn — signing you in, saving your budget, and syncing it between your devices. We don't use your data for advertising, we don't profile you, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone. We would only ever disclose data if the law genuinely required us to.
Deleting your data
- With an account: open the app → Settings → Delete account. This permanently erases your login and every piece of your data from our servers and from that device. It cannot be undone, and it doesn't require emailing anyone.
- In offline mode: your data is only on your device — uninstalling the app or clearing its browser data removes it completely.
- You can also email us at hello@fortnfinance.com and we'll delete your account for you.
We keep account data only while your account exists. There are no backups of deleted accounts kept for marketing or any other secondary purpose.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You can ask us at any time to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you — email hello@fortnfinance.com and we'll respond as soon as we can. If you're in a region with additional privacy rights (such as the GDPR), those rights are honoured through the same contact.
Children
Fortn is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it at this address and adjust the effective date above. Material changes (for example, if Fortn ever added a feature that handles new kinds of data) will be flagged in the app.
